CPSIA Stay

Posted January 31st, 2009 by Seller Coordinator and filed in Accepted Items, CPSIA

The CPSC has issued a stay on the enforcement of the CPSIA.  While this is a good thing for many many manufacturers, this does not effect us directly. Again, they have stated that the rules and limits are still in place, the enforcement will not come for at least a year.  Sellers are still prohibited from selling recalled toys and children’s items and those with lead levels exceeding the limits – however, they acknowledge that this is difficult to determine without testing and certification, which they do not require resellers to perform.  Confused?  Good, you’re normal.

Shoppers and Sellers be aware

Posted January 26th, 2009 by Seller Coordinator and filed in CPSIA

As you may be aware, there is a new federal law that imposes very stringent standards for the sale or resale of children’s products.  We have asked all sellers to abide by the new federal law in providing products for sale, and we have endeavored to exclude items from the sale that the Consumer Product Safety Commission considers to be at a higher risk for containing lead.  The federal law does not require Sweet Repeats to certify that the products sold are lead-free and phthalate-free, but in an abundance of caution, we want all buyers to know that we do not certify that the products sold at Sweet Repeats are lead-free or phthalate-free.
